Meghan Ryan

My name is Meghan Ryan, and I am beyond ecstatic to be coming on board as a travel designer for Travel & Tour Hunters.

My ethos for travel has always been “lean in and say yes”.

When I travel, I try to lean in as far into the country I’m in, root myself into the culture and say yes to every incredible experience that presents itself to me along the way.

“Do I want to ride Japanese motorbikes around Okinawa and go swimming with whale sharks?” YES

“Do I want to kayak around the Thai islands with only a daypack and swim back to shore when I lose my paddle?” YES!

“Do I want to visit an Indian Ashram and take a vow of silence for 10 days?” YES!

“Do I want ride a horse carriage around Central Park and spend New Years Eve in an underground club with the locals?” YES!

“Do I want to hire a convertible and drive from California to Nevada and jump in a helicopter to see the Grand Canyon at sunset?” YES!

“Do I want to zipline over beautiful New Zealand countryside and join a yoga class on the lake of Wanaka? YES!

“Do I want to get a traditional Nepalese tattoo of Sagamartha by an immerging Kathmandu artist? YES!

Over the past 12 years my travel experiences have centred on this ethos and naturally fuelled my love for adventure tours.

As my wanderlust grew over the years so did my need to use a travel consultant. I wanted all the “behind the scenes” “must do’s” and “look-out-for’s” so I didn’t waste a single minute as soon as my flight touched down on that tarmac. I never had to plan a single thing when I got there, I just hit the ground running and let the trip take me.

One of my most memorable adventures was an Everest Base Camp hiking tour I took run by Intrepid Travel. The trip completely changed my life and ingrained a love of hiking and group adventure so deep in me I wonder whether I’ll ever travel without one. Some of the people on that tour are still my close friends to this day; the mountain, the daily grind and beauty of the Himalayas bonds people in a way that is difficult to explain.

I sacrificed showers for phone battery (my budget couldn’t allow for both), dry clothes for the preference of feeling the snow on my arms, pushed through blisters to just make it to the front of the pack, traded sleep for just one more story from our tour guide, put a new pair of dangly earrings in everyday because the Nepalese children loved them, I drank water from the frozen streams, prayed every day to see a Snow Leopard (no luck) and when we finally made it to the top I cried from the deepest part of myself for achieving something so incredible standing on top of one of the most magical places on earth. Group hiking adventures have a powerful impact on the people who participate.  It is truly a once in a lifetime experience. I have big plans to do Machu Picchu for my next hiking fix.  Mt Kilimanjaro, and The Kokoda Trail are also on my radar.

I am so passionate about all the different dimensions and budgets for travel. I have camped in Switzerland and stayed in a luxurious villa in Germany. I have flown first class and the cheapest airline I could find in India. The experience is in just landing. My goal to all my clients is to provide an incredible authentic holiday no matter the budget and share your excitement as we plan your next dream adventure together. Let me deal with the booking so all you need to decide is how you can pack four seasons into one suitcase. (But I have a few tips for that too!)

Incredibly thrilled to be joining with Travel &Tour Hunters and guiding you from start to finish on your next adventure!
