Lisa Conroy

My name is Lisa Conroy and I have been a travel designer with Travel & Tour Hunters for 13 years and what a ride it has been.

I started my career in retail travel, moving into wholesale travel where a pivotal trip to Hong Kong bought Jane and I together. After meeting her I knew I was ready to jump in and become a travel designer alongside her. Working as a wholesale travel agent has provided me with such an in-depth knowledge of America, the South Pacific, and Asia, and I know these regions like the back of my hand.

Ultimately, I do what I do for the love of helping people achieve their travel dreams. When Covid happened, I, like so many, was forced to take a break from selling travel. While it wasn’t the country-hopping I missed, it was the purpose I had in helping my clients experience magic through travel. Once the borders opened, it completely reinvigorated my passion for designing travel and deepened my passion for doing the one thing I truly love – helping people. There is something incredibly beautiful about knowing how hard my clients have worked to invest their hard-earned money in seeing the world and spending quality time together. And when people come back and say it’s the best trip they’ve ever had – that is the greatest job satisfaction imaginable to me.

We live on the most incredible planet made up of so many breathtaking natural beauties, complex cultures, and incredibly diverse historical wonders –travel is one of the greatest investments you can make for yourself and your family and hence why I specialise in multi-generational holidays. What a once in a lifetime experience it is to book a child’s winter wonderland dream in Lapland filled with elves, Santa, and reindeer, watching the Northern Lights from your very own igloo while Mum, Dad, Nana, and Pop are all there to share the magic. No family is too big, no dream is too crazy. If you want it, I can make it happen.

As a mum to 2 young girls, 12 and 13; travelling with kids - I know! I understand what makes and breaks a family holiday. When you ask me to book your family a trip to Vanuatu, I never just book the tickets and send you on your merry way. I’m already considering the bedding in hotel rooms. Do your kids like sharing a bed or are they solo sleepers? Is the duration of the flight doable for a 3 year old? Can I make that connection simpler? What are the luggage limits? Will this airline take a stroller and porta cot on a plane for no extra cost? Do you have nappies and formula for a whole trip knowing those items are difficult to purchase in certain countries? Can I get you a little extra leg room so the babies can spread out on the flight? Which theme parks to visit? These questions are ingrained in me from being a mum and over the years (after much trial and error!) I have a solid understanding of what one should and shouldn’t do when travelling with little people!

My ethos for travel has always been - “less is more”. So often I see people wanting to do 17 countries in 21 days and my advice has always been to pare it back. Really soak up the most that you can from one country before jumping to the next and ticking the box. One of the most memorable trips I’ve ever taken was my honeymoon in Tahiti. We took a small Paul Gaughin luxury cruise ship to our own island only to find they had set up a projector on the beach so we could watch a Tahitian film while we laid in the water. These are the simple beautiful travel experiences you do not think to book yourself from back in Australia but the bespoke, quirky experiences I am always on the lookout to surprise my clients.

Designing travel is what gets me out of bed in the morning and working alongside Jane, we hold one another up and she is my friend first and my travel confidante second. We could not have worked together for so long if I didn’t completely trust and believe in Travel & Tour Hunters.  Our product knowledge completely balances one another out and with Mia and Meg onboard – I truly believe that with the 4 of us, we have the world covered.

I have explored: Australia – all states, New Zealand, USA (inc Hawaii), Mexico, Canada, UK, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Bali, Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Tahiti, Cook Islands.
